However, the matter of repairing the film, I still like to do it on the desktop, so I copied the transferred image to the desktop, WTF! What the hell, how is the color like a glimpse?
Just like the two pictures above, one is bright, the picture is transparent, and the skin color is normal.
The other one is gray, the saturation is low, and the skin color is strange.
Or, in the PS or LR, the color is awkward, but when you look at the graphics software (such as ACDSee, IrfanView), the color becomes the same as the above, and the saturation becomes low.
If you are experiencing the above problem, please read this article carefully and repeatedly.
The reasons for this problem are two:
First, the color space is different;
Second, the issue of color management.
We are all practitioners, or PS enthusiasts, basically have heard the predecessors pointing us: color space to choose sRGB IEC61996-2.1 this.
But no one has ever told us why we should choose this. When the problems mentioned above appear, I don’t know how to solve them.
What a special worry! The color we finally transfer is based on PS, or is it based on the color seen by the viewing software?
First we have to know what is sRGB and AdobeRGB.
sRGB is an abbreviation for standardRedGreenBlue, meaning a standard color space. It was jointly developed by Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft in 1997, mainly because the color gamut of sRGB coincides with the color display of the CRT (commonly known as the big butt display) (also the same as most current LCD monitors). At that time, HP and Microsoft. The high market share is horrible, so sRGB is widely used in some civilian fields such as printing, printing, and networking.
When we are in the application, sRGB can meet the needs, but because sRGB has a small color gamut, it contains less color information, so even though we are looking at sRGB images, the color saturation can be very high. High, but the level transition is not enough. So when you change the picture from sRGB to CMYK mode, the picture will be grayed out, it seems dry, and the level is not enough. (You can open a picture and press CTRL+Y in the PS to preview it.)
And AdobeRGB is the color space standard set by our father Adobe, full name: Adobe RedGreenBlue. It has a lot more color space than sRGB, and is richer in color level, and can completely cover the color space of CMYK. Therefore, it has occupied an absolute dominant position in the professional field of printing and high-precision printing.
Many times, if we fix the image in AdobeRGB mode, then pass it to the Internet, or send it to a friend, others will think that the picture is gray and dark, because most of the displays on the market only support sRGB (such as minor repairs). Display), and some software does not do color management, so AdobeRGB, which has wider color gamut, can’t exert its advantages, but is misunderstood (feeling AdobeRGB is wrong). That’s why we have to set the color space of the photo to sRGB.
Having said that, everyone has a certain understanding of the color space, is it right? As long as we have been using sRGB, we can avoid the problem as shown at the beginning?
The answer is no, only a small part of the problem can be solved!
Using sRGB only guarantees that there will be no errors in a small range.
This part is to solve the problem of color change on the same computer (and can’t guarantee that the color displayed is correct), but our picture is not just for ourselves, we need to send it to customers and put it online. Display, as well as printing. even When we copied from one computer to another, the color displayed changed. How to solve this problem?
This introduces another concept –
Most of the term should have been heard, what is it, and how it is operated, but it has not been studied.
The definition given by Baidu Encyclopedia is:
Automatic color management based on desktop publishing system or graphic design system, that is, color calibration of equipment in software, characteristic ratio of different color spaces, color transfer for different input devices to achieve optimal color matching. The purpose is to achieve color matching between different input devices, achieve color matching between different output devices, achieve the consistency of the actual color of different displays, and make the display accurate to the color of the finished product.
In a word, Color management is to achieve what you see and gain!
Why do you need color management?
Because each color space has different ability to express colors, this difference is also reflected in the ability of various screens (displays, mobile phones, pad screens, etc.) that we usually use to display colors. The same color code, the colors displayed on different monitors may be different, so we have to switch between the various color spaces, and the problem of color inconsistency appears in the color space conversion.
The production of a photo,
Usually the following process:
1, camera shooting record
(Raw has no color space)
2, our display for retouching
(Different monitor gamut coverage is different, and some are somewhat color cast)
3. Give this photo sRGB or AdobeRGB color space
4, upload to the network, open with a browser
5, the viewer’s display
(There are two cases here: 1. The browser does color management; 2. The browser does not do color management. If the browser does not do color management, the color is not allowed.)
It seems that there are only 5 steps, but it is very prone to problems!
Many friends who use Apple computers (except for Windows systems) almost feel that their colors are not a problem, the colors are accurate, and the layers are rich. This is because OSX takes over all the color management things and doesn’t need to worry about it. This is why most people like to use Apple computers to map, and strongly recommend the use of Apple computers by friends around.
For those of us desktop enthusiasts, or Windows loyalty powder, is it necessary to change to Apple? Naturally not, but we need to do color management ourselves.
