Small blind and big blind 3bet strategy
What size is best for using?
When Texas Hold’em just started to pop, people used to use a very large 3bet size. After this stage, people started to use the size of 3X-3.5X. In 14 and 15 years, the high stakes players of online 6max started to use bigger. The Size, this phenomenon was caused by the influence of the environment at that time, when the average population began to over call 3bet, so the top players made adjustments.
Let’s go back to an earlier age. In the 11th and 12th years, people at that time thought that the opponents generally undercalling 3bet. At that time, the average population fold to 3bet was 55-65%, so many people would choose to use smaller sizes. Exploit opponents. By the time of 14 or 15 years, the solver had not appeared yet, and the snowie was just emerging, and some people gradually fell to 3bet. After the advent of solver made people fully realize that their fold to 3bet is too high, everyone started more call 3bet, because the average population changes, people think they should be 3bet bigger, in order to obtain a higher fold rate.
Factors to consider
- The tendency of the opponent, will overfold or underfold
- Effective chip depth
Although using solver to simulate deep code, it does not suggest that it is necessary to increase the 3bet size. This is because solver thinks that the calling range of 3bet should be the same for 150BB and 100BB, but it is not.
If there is no position or initiative after the flop, it will be more difficult to play. The blind spot has just two disadvantages. If there are more than 5 spr excellent opponents can make you feel bad after turning over, this will give you a lot of pressure. In addition, when there is no position, it is difficult for human players to balance each line that they are turning over. The opponent may find a loophole to exploit it.
Based on the above three reasons, many people will overcall the blind spot 3bet. So we need to use a larger size and a slightly tighter range in the case of deep code. Of course, all this is because human beings are not as perfect as solver.
When we have a position and no initiative, it will be better to turn it over, so when I have a position, I can also 3bet small to exploit and fold to 3bet too many opponents (especially on the bad reg). The difference between a machine and a human being is that the machine can be handled perfectly when there is no position, and it is difficult for humans to do it.
3bet range selection
Solver will use the merged range
The range used by people in the early days is more polarized
Many people have built different 3bet ranges, but the value part will not be much different.
When there is no solver, it is difficult for people to know what is best. Now through the calculation of solver, we can easily draw conclusions. Below we will also use snowie and solver to build our own range. Here are a few examples, and the final result will not be sent here.
Snowie’s suggested range will include more AXs. Of course, we will have more nuts in the turn, but it will also weaken our scope in the single raise pot. In srp, our strong cards will be much less. If the opponent realizes this, in some cases we will be exploited, and because the scope of the forward design will be difficult to resist. So I would recommend using the PIO strategy. It is not recommended to use a hybrid strategy too much, as this will make your policy less enforceable.
You can see that we are using a non-polarized range, but there are also cases where a polarization range is better:
- The effective chip is very shallow (40BB), this spot opponent is not easy 4b light.
- BB vs SB, there is a positional advantage here, and it is relatively easy to handle it after turning it over.
We need to establish our own default strategy, and then adjust according to the opponent’s information, location, effective chips, especially for the opponents on the difference, adjustment is particularly important.
Many people build many complex blending strategies through software, but in many cases these strategies leave the trouble to themselves without putting too much difficulty on the opponent’s handling. (For example, 3bet’s different size, the opponent only needs to adjust his scope, and you need to build two different ranges)
Big data statistics
Size is probably around the pot. It can be adjusted according to the opponent.
BB vs BU 10-12%
BB vs CO 6-9%
Usually the opponent’s underfold won’t affect too much, but if he overfolds to 3bet (more than 55%), then it is necessary for us to over3bet exploit. Of course, if you can’t handle it well, under3bet will be better than over3bet. If you are good enough, you don’t care about it, but Texas Hold’em is a game that AI has not completely cracked. Where can you be strong?
VS 4bet & 5bet strategy
In this part we will use pio to analyze, solver will do better than snowie in this spot. After the end of a session, we can use snowie to check the processing of the front (such as calling 4bet), but the 5bet range of snowie is not very useful.
In the face of the opponent 4bet, first we need to consider the following factors:
- The depth of the effective chip;
- The size of the opponent’s 4bet;
- Chip depth affects the 5bet strategy.
Import the following range in solver as 3bet range
There are a lot less Ax suits than snowie here.
After encountering 4bet
It can be seen that it will resist many hand pairs and KQs, AJs, some T9s. The reason why there is no 98s here is that it will encounter AK on the TJQ board. AK will almost always be 5bet jam. AA, KK and QQ will call 4bet at a certain frequency. We will call the big AXsuit, give up the middle part of the same color (avoid being dominated), but will call some small same color (if the opponent uses a very large 4b size or the effective depth is shallow) should be reduced This part of the hand).
If the opponent uses a larger size, it needs to be more fold than the default range, and put more AA, KK in the call range.
Below is the 4b range suggested by pio
Many people will use a wider 4bet range relative to this range (such as KK, QQ, JJ, AK 100% 4bet, pio will also be in the face of small blinds), this time should adjust the 3bet range, and do more Call. Solver recommends 4 bets for about 30 combinations, but many people will have 4bet 60-80 combinations, so when the opponent will be 4bet call JJ QQ, the KK and QQ 5b jam here will be better than the call 4bet.
In the use of pio, it is necessary to take into account the deviation of the machine and the average population strategy in some parts, so as to adjust the range so that the calculated results are not biased. If you want to calculate a best result, we need to add more details. It is better to use pio to make some precise hand selections, but some scenarios it assumes sometimes do not match the current environment. of.
Below is the result of facing the opponent’s wider 4bet range
You can see that the calling card doesn’t change much, but it will add more 5bet range to exploit. We need to pay special attention to the fact that some cards should not be overcalled, especially AQo. When our opponents are often 4bet JJ+ and AK (especially before the loop is nit), the call of this hand will be even worse. In addition, the frequency of AA calling 4bet and the frequency of opponents’ fold to 5bet are also closely related. When the opponent is tighter, we will better handle our forward strategy (such as circle).
Tips: If you find that your opponent has too much 4bet, the adjustment you should make is not to call 4bet more but to tighten your 3bet range and moderately adjust the 5bet range.
